The mass of a density bottle is 25g when empty , 50g when filled completely with water 365g when filled completely with mercury. Find the density of mercury.

srisaji@yahoo.com

mass of bottle=25g

mass of mercury=365-25=340g=0.340kg

mass of water=50-25=25g=0.025kg

first calculate volume

density=mass/volume

we know mass of water,density of water

volume =mass/density=0.025/1000=25×10-6m3

now we find the density of mercury

density=0.340/25×10-6=13600kg/m3
