The melting point of 1 kg carbon-dioxide is -79 C. What will be the melting point of 500gm Carbon- Dioxide?

Dear student,

The melting point does not depend on the weight of a substance, if you take 1 kg or 0.5 kg the melting point will be the same in both cases.

The melting point depends upon the intermolecular forces of attraction, compounds having large intermolecular forces of attraction will have a greater melting point. It also depends on the pressure applied.

Hence, the melting point of 500 gm of carbon dioxide is - 79 degrees Celcius.
