Fruit is formed from ovary/ovaries and in some plants accessory tissues also form fruit. Ovary undergoes changes to become fleshy or hard or any other change and becomes fruit. Basically it’s the modification in the ovary and accessory tissues which decide the nature of fruit and not the fertilization or pollination.
