The plasmid DNA confers certain unique phenotypic characters to such bacteria. One such character is resistance to antibiotics. This plasmid DNA is used to monitor bacterial transformation with foreign DNA

-explain the above lines.

Dear student,

We know all the living organisms have their genetic material stored in form DNA (majorly). Bacterial cells have a small circular DNA in addition to their chromosomal DNA. This small circular DNA is known as a plasmid. Plasmid infers unique characteristics to the bacterial cells when incorporated with chromosomal DNA.
