The poem 'Father to Son' is an apt example of what generation gap does to the bond between a father and a son. In modern times, this problem has grown many-folds. Aged people are unable to cope up with the changing mind-set and the youth is not able to understand their elders. We see that the father feels helpless and is sad about the fact that his son does not talk to him anymore despite sharing the same house. They are unable to bridge the gap or mend their relationship. Though the two of them are ready to put out their hand and start a fresh but they do not know how would they begin.
