the poem ' The laburnum top ' goes about in a cyclic pattern. For example, the stillness and tranquility of the laburnum tree is disturbed by the Goldfinch which breaks it lively, and it becomes still again after the departure of the Goldfinch. does the cyclic pattern exist in a life as well ? what should we learn from it ?

Dear Student.

In the poem 'The Laburnum Top' the poet is trying to say that life is a process of exchange and transformation. People are alive because they undergo exchange of energy. The goldfinches transform the tree and make it alive, without the goldfinches and the chicks the laburnum is just another tree. Similarly in our lives, there are many things that are cyclical. We experience same seasons every year. We prepare ourselves according to the changing weather. We wear warm clothes in winters and rain coats during monsoons. From these changes, we learn that although time is linear, exchange of energy from one form to the other continues to take place which gives rise to the cyclical pattern that we notice in our day to day lives. This also provides the equilibrium between hot and cold, high and low, light and dark, etc.

We hope that this answer solves your query.
