the prophase 1 of meiosis plays important role in r-DNA formation.justify.

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Prophase I is the longest phase of meiosis. It consists of pachytene as one of the phase in which the recombination nodules appear at the sites where crossing over has to take place between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes. Crossing over helps in the exchange of genetic material between two homologous chromosomes with the help of enzyme recombinase. Thus, results in formation of r DNA or recombinant homologous chromosomes.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the Prophase I.

Prophase 1 of meiosis is very long. It consists of pachytene phase in which crossing over between non sister chromatids of homologous chromoaomes takes place and therefore recombination occurs.
