The size of ribosomes is about 15nm by 20 nm in size what does it mean?? does it mean that size of the smaller subunit is 15nm and that of larger subunit is 20nm??

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

The unit of measurement of cells that is generally used is called nanometer (nm). Ribosomes (cell organelle)
are 15 nm in length and 20 nm in diameter (or width).
No, it does not mean that the larger subunit is of 20 nm size and the smaller subunit of 15 nm. It just denotes the size of the ribosome as a whole.
