The total sum of the ages of father and son is 55 years. If the father was to live till his son's age equals his present age, the total of their ages would be 93 years. Find their present ages.

Let the present age of son be x yrs and that of father be y years.

Therefore , x + y = 55 ------- (i)

Difference , ( y - x ) yrs

According to Question,

Age of son ,x + ( y - x ) = y yrs

And age of father , y + y - x = (2y - x)yrs

Using this information we get,

2y - x + y = 93

3y - x = 93---(ii)

y + x = 55

On adding , we get 4y = 148

y = 37 yrs

therfore x = 18 yrs

Ans: Age of son is 18 yrs and Age of father is 37 yrs.
