Dear Student This statement is true because we cannot restrict a species to a specific topic level. This can be justified by the fact that a particular species may have multiple feeding habits. For example when a human feeds on grains, it is considered as primary consumer. If human feeds on chicken and other animal based diet, it is considered as secondary consumers. So we cannot restrict human to a particular topic level. Hence the trophic level represents a functional level not a species as such. Regards
