Here we will calculate the are simply by subtracting the area of the shaded region to the whole area.A-area of the complete rectangle.A=35×350 =12250m.now we need to calculate the area of the shaded region.shaded region include one trapizoid and a triangle.A1-area of trapoizoid that is at the top of the graph.A1=a+b2×h.a and b are length of parallel sides and h is the perpendicular distance between the parallel side.therefore,A1=200+1002×15=2250m.A2- area of the shaded triangleA2=12base×height=12×20×35=350m.Now the required area is the unshaded one represent the displacement.S=A-A1-A2=12250-2250-350=9650m.So the toal displacement will be 9650m.
