There are two NH2 groups in semicarbazide. However only one is involved in the formation of semicarbazone. Why?
Kindly answer sir/mam.

This is bcoz the nh2 group adjacent to carbonyl carbon is involved in resonance and hence its electron density decreases and it cant act as a nucleophile.
So the nh2 grp away fron carbonyl carbon acts a s a nucleophile
