Three 60 W? incandescent bulbs are connected in a parallel.
(1) Calculate the total power consumed
(2)Now suppose that one of the bulbs is fused. What will be the total power consumed now?

Dear Student

As bulbs are connected in parallel so total power is consumed is 60W +60 W+ 60W = 180 W

When one bulb gets fused then as bulbs are connected in parallel so total power =180-60 =120 W

TOTAL POWER CONSUMED = B1 + B2 + B3 (WHERE B IS BULB )
                                                   = 60w + 60 W+ 60 W
                                                    180W

POWER CONSUMED NOW IS ZERO AS CURRENT BECOMES ZERO AND SO

P=VIT
  = VI(0)
   0 W

total power = 60W+60W+60W ( THERE ARE THREE BULBS)
                   = 180W
 IF ONE BULB IS FUSE THEN THE TOTAL POWER = 180W - 60W

SORRY FOR MISTAKE ABOVE

NOW POWER IS 120W AS THESE ARE CONNECTED IN PARALLEL
