Three alternate terms of an AP are x+y, x-y and 2x + 3y, then x =

a) -y

b) -2y

c) -4y

d) -6y

d) -6y

we have, x+y, x-y and 2x+3y

now, 2nd term - 1st term = 3rd term - 2nd term

= x-y-(x+y)=2x+3y-(x-y)

= x-y-x-y=2x+3y-x+y

= -2y=x+4y

x= -2y-4y

x= -6y

  • 5

x-y-(x+y)=2x+3y-(x-y) since they are in AP

x-y-x-y=2x+3y-x+y

-2y=x+4y

-6y=x

therefore ans is d)  -6y

hope its correct

thumbs up pls if u like

x=-6y

solution=

B=A+C/2

X-Y=X+Y+2X+3y/2  (AFTER SOLVING THIS)

x=-6Y
