Tides occur bec of gravitational force of attraction of the moon . Explain in detail

Dear Student,
Tides occur due to the moon's gravitational pull on the earth. The gravitational forces of the moon causes tidal forces which pulls the ocean towards it. Moon's gravitational pull is relatively less than that of earth due to smaller mass. However, since water can flow easily, it is pulled by moon's gravity but the same is pulled back by the earth's gravitational pull. This bulges the water in the ocean on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon. These bulges of water are tides. Due to the rotation of the earth and subsequent pulling of water from both sides tides form. One can see two high tides and two low tides in an ocean throughout a day.
