To a clear solution of a complex (X), a solution of BaCl2 is added and a white ppt. is formed, which does not dissolves in dilute HCl.The compound X is (a)Nitrate (b)Bromide (c)Carbonate (d)Sulphate

 Dear Student,

The compound X is sulphate.

Reason: To a clear solution or water extract containing sulphate react with BaCl2 to give white precipitate. When this white precipitate is treated with dil HCl white precipitate does not dissolve in it because compound having white precipitate is unreactive toward dilute acid.

SO42- + BaCl2 ---> BaSO4 + 2Cl-
