Total national income is not very usefully measure for comparing the development of a country. Why? Which is the better method for comparing countries on the place of TNI?

Dear student,

Total National Income is not regarded as a very good measure of comparing the development of a country. This is mainly because it does not take into account the average income of a person in the economy. In other words, it does not highlight the distribution of income in the country. It may happen that the total national income of the country is high but it is concentrated in only a few hands. In such a scenario, the country cannot be raked high in terms of development.

A  better measure of development of a country is the per capita income.
