Traditions, rituals and funerary practices must be respected. Discuss with respect to the chapter, ‘Discovering Tut: The Saga Continues.'

Traditions and rituals surrounding funerary practices should be respected because it is the least one can give to the dead, respect in their death. It is ignominious to the memory of the dead to be disrespectful such as Howard Carter and his menwere to King Tut's tomb. Carter's discovery of the tomb had come after extensive searching, but he ran into trouble as he finally reached the mummy. The ritual resins has hardened and cementing Tut to the bottom of his solid gold coffin. No amount of force could make it budge,it was excessively hot in that part of the country so Carter tried to loosen the resins by keeping the mummy out in the sun for several hours. It was kept out in the blazing sunshine at a temperature of 149 degrees Fahrenheit but nothing budged. Therefore, Carter chiselled away the consolidated material from beneath the limbs and trunk before it was possible to raise the king's remains. Carter had to cut the mummy free otherwise thieves would have gone past the guards and ripped it apart to remove the gold. To separate Tut from his adornments, Carter's man removed the mummy's head and severed nearly every major joint. Once they had finished, they reassembled the remains on a layer of sand in a wooden box with padding that concealed the damage, the bed where Tut is kept now. The Hindus cremate their dead but the ashes are sacred, the Muslims and Christians bury their dead and the bones are not supposed to be removed so that the souls can get safe passage, there are countless other legends and customs surrounding funerary practices and all that is required to be respectful because the dead were also someone's loved ones when they were alive.
