we have to find the length of the perpendicular which falls on the side AD. So we will first find the area of the triangle taking the side AB as height and side AC as the base because AB is perpendicular to AC .
SOL- Area of the triangle = 1/2 * b * h
=1/2 * AB * AC
=1/2 * 5cm * 12 cm
Area of the triangle =30 sq. cm
Area of the triangle = 30sq. cm
1/2 * b * h =30 sq. cm
1/2 * BC * AD =30sq. cm
1/2 * 13cm * AD =30sq. cm
AD =30 * 2/ 13
AD =60/30 cm

Can u also find this too.
ABC is right angled at A. AD is perpendicular to BC. If AB = 5 cm, BC = 13 cm and AC = 12 cm, find the area of ABC. Also, find the length of AD.
