Gulliver consents to the search of his pockets by the court officials. After the thorough investigation, they report in bewilderment on the strange artifacts found in his pockets. The inventory is read out the emperor, which has the description of Gulliver's snuff box, letters, handkerchief, comb, coins, razor, watch pistol and ammunition. Gulliver is requested to exhibit his pistol, he then fires into the air upon which the terrified crowd falls down. He also explains the utility of things found in his pocket.

* Describe the reaction of Lilliputians on things like a comb, watch and "hollow metal pillars". It also hints that the kingdom was primitive and away from the intelligence and technology of 18th century England.
