And the distance between the top of two poles = BD = 13 mAlso, CE=AB=10 m  and DE=DC-CE=15m-10m=5mApplying Pythagoras theorem in rt ∆BED,∴BD2=BE2+DE2⇒132=BE2+52⇒169=BE2+25⇒BE2=169-25=144BE=144=12mBut BE=AC⇒AC=12mThus, the distance between their feet is 12 m
