two poles of height 7m & 12m stand on a plane ground if the distance between their feet is 12m find the distance between their tops.

Given: Poles DC and AB of length 7 and 12 meters respectively.

Now, according to the figure,

CD = EB = 7 m

 EA = AB – BE = 12 m – 7 m = 5 m

Also BC = DE = 12 m

Now, using Pythagoras theorem in ΔADE

AD2 = AE2 + DE2

= 52 + 122

= 25 + 144

= 169

∴ Distance between the top of the poles is 13 meters.

  • 21

 it will also be 12m .......may be i m correct

  • -5

since two poles are parallel so their distance be also same

therefore distance between their tops = distance between their foots

  • -6
