Here,  ∆x = d cosθ = nλ (for maxima).

Given that d = 2 m

 λ = 0.5

Plug in these values in above equation

2 cosθ = 0.5 n

4 cosθ = n

If n = 1, 4 cosθ = 1

If n = 2,

If n = 3, 

If n = 4,

For first quadrant number of maxima =4 

Total number of maxima on circle detected by detector = 16
