Under what circumstances did Aladdin asend the throne of delhi

Dear Student,

Jalaluddin Khilji (1290-1296) was a pious and calm ruler who even pardoned the nobles who rebelled against him and he did not take much efforts to strengthen the position of king in the Delhi Sultanate. This had resulted in constant rebellions, lawlessness and disorder. After a brief rule of 6 years, Jalaluddin Khiji was assasinated by his nephew Alauddin Khilji (1296-1316) after completely bribing the nobles and gaining their support. Thus, Alauddin Khilji ascended the throne of Delhi and became the next successive ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. He was considered as one of the ablest administrators of Delhi Sultanate as under his rule, the Delhi Sultanate was expanded to extreme south of India. He totally concentrated the entire power of the state under his own hands and followed Balban's policy of Blood and Iron, thus established a powerful Empire by crushing revolts, rebellions and disorder.
