use of microbes as biocontrol agents

Bio control agents such as microbes are used to control the growth of pathogenic bacteria and virus and pests.

It can be done by three methods:-

1. Competition:- bio control agent compete with the pathogenic bacteria or virus for food and nutrition to inhibit the growth of pathogen.

2. Pathogenesis:- bio control agent can cause disease to the target species or pest resulting in its death.

3. Allelopathy:- bio control agent can secrete some chemicals that affect the growth of pests.
