Vaishali Jain ma'am,
You provided me with the below solution for a question,

I went through the solution, but I am unable to find out whether there is a increase or decrease in the percentage. Please justify.

Let the original length of rectangle = x unitsLet the original width of the rectangle = y unitsNow, original area = length × breadth = xy sq unitsNow, it is given that the length of the rectangle is increased by 10% and breadth is decreased by 10%.Now, new length of rectangle = x + 10% of x = x + 10x100 = x + x10 = 11x10 unitsNow, new breadth of the rectangle = y - 10% of y = y - 10y100 = y-y10 = 9y10 unitsNew area = 11x10 × 9y10 = 99xy100 = 0.99 xy sq unitsNow, original area  > new area, so there will be a decrease.Decrease in area = xy - 0.99xy = 0.01xy sq unitsDecrease% = Decreaseoriginal area×100%=0.01xyxy×100%=1%
