Very low concentration of a bacteria or virus (at a time when the symptoms of the disease are not yet visible) can be detected by amplification of their nucleic acid by PCR. Can you explain how PCR can detect very

Dear student

The presence of viruses in small quantity in our body or cells cannot be detected by the diagnostic tests used to diagnose AIDS. Hence, the cells of body of suspected person are taken and nucleic acid of cell along with virus if present any is isolated from these cells by various  techniques. This nucleic acid is then amplified (formation of many copies) by PCR technique. After amplification, the HIV diagnostic tests give positive results and help in diagnosis of AIDS at early stage.
