wats the difference b/w nucleus and nucleon

Hi,
The nucleus is the physically compact, positively charged region of an atom where protons and neutrons are located. These protons and neutrons are sometimes called nucleons, which is an umbrella term covering both of these nuclear particles.
Hope this helps,
@ indhu15 and sseema72.. good answer. You both get thumb up. Keep posting!!

There is a simple difference between a nucleus and a nucleon. A nucleus is at the center of an atom, and it is that collection of particles, protons and neutrons, that make up the nucleus of that atom.

Because atomic nuclei are composed of protons and neutrons, we have come up with the term nucleon to describe any particle that makes up an atomic nucleus.

That means either a proton or a neutron, when we talk about them as part of the nucleus of an atom, can be properly called a nucleon. The nucleus of an atom is said to be made up of nucleons. It's just that simple.

hope it helpss :) :)

the nucleus is a membrane-enclosed organnel found ineukaryotic cells. It contains most of the cell's genetic material organized as multiple long linear DNA molecules in complex with a large variety of proteins , such as histones, to form chromozomes

a nucleon is a collective name for two particles: the neutron and the proton. These are the two constituents of the atomic nucleus. Until the 1960s, the nucleons were thought to be elementary particles. Now they are known to be composite particles, each made of three quarks bound together by the so-called strong interaction.

nucleons are the particles in a nucleus , ie nucleons are neutron and protons .  Nucleus is  a small region in an atom where protons and neutrons are located.

Nucleus contains all the protons and neutrons.it does not contain electrons. The protons and neutrons collectively are called nucleons.
