AMERICAN DEPOSITORY RECEIPTS are the depository receipts which are issued by a company in the united states of america . ADR's are bought and sold in american markets like regular stocks but it can only be issued to american citizens and can be listed and traded on a stock excange of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
INDIAN DEPOSITORY RECEIPTS are rupee dominated instrument issued by any foreign company through a public offer in India . IDR'S can be listed on any indian stock exchange and a single IDR can represent any number of share in the company . Only standard charterd bank can issue IDR in india
