Dear Student,

Antimalarial medicines are used for the treatment and prevention of malaria infection. Some antimalarial drugs work on  the erythrocytic stage of malaria infection, which is the stage  of infection that causes symptomatic illness. Antimalarial medications are also known as antimalarials which are prepared to prevent or cure malaria.

You can take medicines called antimalarials to prevent and treat malaria. Malaria is a very serious disease, and its presence in many regions of the world is well known. So if you are travelling to an area where malaria is present, it is important to reduce the risk of infection by taking medicine before you travel, while you are in the area, and after you return home.Antimalarial drugs, in combination with mosquito control programmes, have historically played a key role in controlling malaria in endemic areas, resulting in significant reduction of the geographic range of malarial disease worldwide
