what are biodegradable and non biodegradable detergents. give examples for each

Dear student,

Biodegradable detergents are the detergents that can be easily decomposed by biological means like bacterial or microbial action. They are mostly straight chain hydrocarbons so that they can easily be decomposed by microbial action.

Examples:- Linear alkyl benzene sulfonates, linear olefinsulfonates, sodium lauryl sulphates

Non-biodegradable: Detergents which cannot be easily decomposed. Reduce, recycle and reuse are the solution to reduce the impact of existing non-biodegradable substances.
Examples include ammonium or sulphate salts of long chain carboxylic acids.

Regards
