what are dendrites,neurons and axon

Neurons are basic structural and functional unit of nervous system. Dendrites and axons are nerve fibres (parts of a neuron).
Neuron is a cell that transmits the nerve impulse from one part of the body to another. Dendrites receive the stimulus from nerve endings of another neuron and transmits it to the cell body from where it passes towards the axon. Number of dendrites can vary while axon is generally one in number. Axon may or may not be covered by myelin sheath.
