What are depresaants

Dear Student,

Depressants are used to suppress the frothing of undesired mineral or minerals, in the froth floatation process. For example, NaCN is used as a depressant in seperation of ZnS and PbS.

The substances which selectively prevent certain type of particles from forming froth are called depressants. Eg: NaCN is used to separate ZnS and PbS where only PbS is allowed to froth with the bubbles.
