Earthworms are environmental wonders. They improve our soil, eat our rubbish and even help us catch fish! Earthworms are invertebrates, meaning they have no backbone. They are referred to as annelids because of the rings or segments that make up their bodies. These segments shrink and stretch to help them move.

Worms are unlike other animals because they do not have eyes, ears, or legs. The main body parts are: the mouth head end, tail end, clitellum (saddle) and setae (tiny hairs that cover each segment. These are barely visible.)
