What are endospores that Clostridium Bacteria produce during adverse conditions?

Dear Student,

A spore is a tiny, spherical, unicellular structure covered by a thick wall. Spores are formed inside the sporangium by the division of cells. This sac-like structure provides a tough coat covered around the spore that protects it from unfavorable conditions and which is why they survive for a longer duration of time.
Bacteria produce spores that are highly resistant structures that can withstand high temperature, UV light, resistance to desiccation, lack of nutrients, etc. Under such unfavorable conditions, bacteria undergo sporulation.

In other words, In bacteria, highly thick-walled and resting spores called endospores are formed in response to the adverse environment. On arrival of favorable conditions, endospores germinate to form a new bacterium.
