What are hetrogametes ?

Dear student, In gametogenesis, two type of gametes are formed male and female. They are reproductive units in sexual reproduction. When the two gametes are morphological similiar they are homogametes. However in majority of organisms, gametes are morphological distinct and called as heterogametes i.e they appear different in size, shape and activity. Example- in human organisms-male gamete is known as spermatozoa and female is known as ova. Regards.
