what are lethal genes?

A mutation caused in any of the protein coded by certain genes which may cause synthesis of non functional or malfunctional protein and thereby affects the viability of an individual are known as lethal genes.

 A gene mutation that causes premature death in heterozygotes if dominant, and in homozygotes if recessive. Also known as lethal mutation.
