What are oxides ? What effect do they on human body ?

Dear student,

Oxides are the chemical compounds that form by the combination of oxygen and any other elements. In oxides, the oxidation state of oxygen is -2, or we can say the valency of oxygen in oxides is 2 whereas the valency or oxidation state of other elements may vary.
Common examples of oxides are CO2, MgO, CaO, etc.

Different types of oxides give different types of effects in our body-
1) Long-term exposure to nitrogen oxide can cause irritation in the respiratory system, eyes, and skin.
2) Lower level of sulphur oxide can cause chest pains, breathing problems, eye irritation.
