When we use verbs in the 'ing' form with auxiliary verbs was and were , the sentence points that the works was being continued in the past tense .
Where it refers to forms such as "I have left" and "Suman has died". There forms are present because they used the present tense of the auxiliary verb have , and Perfect beacause they use that use that auxiliary verb in combination with the past participal of the main verb. Such as "I had eaten"!!!!
