what are Purkinje fibres

Dear student,

The bundle of His in the heart which carries impulse from atrio-ventricular node (AVN) to the bottom of the heart. This impulse results in the compression of heart initiated from the bottom. 
This bundle of His bifurcates into right and left bundle which leads to right and left ventricles respectively. These branches are known as purkinje fibres. These are responsible for contraction of ventricular muscles which in turn forces the blood out of ventricles.
