what are the chemical tests to distinguish between

1. phenol & benzyl alcohol
2. propanol & 2-methyl butan-2-ol
3. phenol & aniline

1. Ferric chloride test- Phenol gives a violet colour with neutral FeCl₃ solution whereas benzyl alcohol doesnot react with FeCl₃ solution.

2.Lucus reagent test - Add Lucas reagent(conc.HCl + anhydrous ZnCl₂).Primary alcohol propanol doesnot turn cloudy at room temperature whereas tertiary alcohol 2-methyl butan-2-ol becomes cloudy immediately.

3. Ferric chloride test - Phenol gives a violet colour with neutral FeCl₃ solution whereas aniline doesnot give any colour.
