Fibrous roots: There is no main root. All are roots equally dispersed and similar in appearance.
Lateral roots: In the tap root system, secondary roots grow from the primary/main root. These secondary/lateral roots are shallow in nature and grow horizontally. Even smaller roots grow from the lateral roots, they are called tertiary roots.
Aerial roots: They are adventitious roots that grow above the ground. They are exposed to air all the time.
