Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer (MOET) Technology

In this technique, the cow is administered with FSH-like hormone, which induces follicular maturity and super ovulation. In super ovulation, instead of one egg/cycle, 6−8 eggs are produced per cycle. The cow is either naturally mated with a superior bull or artificially inseminated. Fertilized egg is recovered at 8−32 cell stages non-surgically and transferred to a surrogate mother.

It has following disadvantages:

1. It is expensive
2. It needs great deal of skill.
3. It has low success rate.
4. The offsprings produced may be abnormal.
5. The transfer of embryos into surrogate mother may result in infection.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the MOET.
