What are the factors to check the quality of water?
Solution:
Water quality can be checked by various means:-
1. TDS- refers to total dissolved solids. It will measure any impurities which are present in the dissolved state in water.
2. pH - refers to the hydrogen ion concentration. pH value less than 7 will indicate that water is acidic and a value more than 7 will be indicative of basic. Pure water has pH value of approx 7
3. Coliform bacteria are present only in impure, dirty water. Put a drop of water on a slide and look for such rod-shaped bacteria.
4. Salinity of water can also be tested by a Multiparameter tester.
