What are the quantitative and qualitative definition of force ?
Dear student,
Qualitative definition of force:- Force is that external cause which can move a stationary object or which can change the state of motion of a moving object.
Quantitative definition of force:- Force is defined as the rate of change of momentum expressed as an equation
F = dp/dt
Since momentum is equal to product of mass and velocity the equation can be written as
F = m dv/dt
As dv/dt = acceleration
Hence F = ma
Thus force is an agent and acceleration is cause
