The two major changes that took place in agriculture during the  time of Mahajanapadas were

1. The increase in the use of iron ploughshares. This enabled farmers to cultivate heavy and clayey soil in a more efficient manner than pre-existing wooden ploughshares.  This increased agricultural output.

2. The start of the transplantation of paddy. Thus, instead of just scattering seeds, people started growing paddy saplings separately and then transferring them to fields.
