what challenges did reformers face?
Social reformers tried to bring new reforms in the society by challenging the old practises which they regarded as reasonable and illogical.Caste system, child marriage, sati, dowry system, female infanticide etc. were certain practises of the Hindu society that curbed the life of people including women.
They raised their voice to put a ban on such practises which according to some sections like the Brahmins were derogatory.The Brahmins thought that these practises were a part of the Hindu society and traditions which cannot be wiped out.They sternly opposed the views of the social reformers and even criticised them for their acivities.
