WHAT DID MAXIMILIEN DO TO GAIN POWER? very urgent

Dear Student,

Maximilien Robespierre was a well known influential person who was part of the French revolution. He began his political career in the year 1789 when he was elected as a representative in the Third Estate of Artois in the pre-revolutionary Estates General. While he was a representative of the Estates General, he always promoted the interests of the lower classes. As a member of the Constituent Assembly and the Jacobin Club, Robespierre steadfastly campaigned for the universal manhood suffrage. He also fought against the abolition of celibacy for clergy and abolition of slavery. Robespierre stood as a voice for those who remained politically voiceless, for their admission into National Guard, public offices and other services. He played a crucial role in the revolution against the French monarchy and its dethronement. Robespierre wanted to create a unified and indivisible France and to establish equality before law while defending the principles of direct democracy. Finally, he became the member of the most powerful Committee of Public Safety in July 1793. These were the prominent functions Robespierre has performed to win the trust of the French people and to subsequently gain power.
