What did the British officials ask Gandhiji to do and why?
Pls ans urgently with reference to "Indigo"

Dear Student,

British officials asked Mahatma Gandhi to quit Champaran. People in Champaran were under the idea that violent fight between them and the British government  is the only way by which they can be out of their misery. But they didn't have the resources to fight with violence. But when Gandhi came he gave the people ideas by how they can win this battle without violence. People followed his ideas. They had faith in him. Following him people revolted against the British government. This made the government to baffle because it was for the first time that their authority had been challenged by the Indians and they knew that this was because of Gandhi. So they wanted Gandhi to quit because he was the sole of the movement and if he quits whole Champaran movement will come down.

Regards
