What do the letters N and C in the antibody diagram of NCERT mean?

Dear student.

N and C are two terminal present in an antibody or peptide. N designates amino-terminus (NH2),  C-terminus is known as carboxyl-terminus, where free -COOH group is present. A protein(antibody) starts from N-terminus and ends in C-terminus.

Regards.

The C region (constant region) is the one which differentiates an antibody from a B cell receptor. The N region helps the antibody to interact with the antigen.
